What to decide before you watch competitor prices

Consultancy questions for the ‘same SKU, their price, on a schedule’ job — the match rule, the source, and when a listing scrape is the wrong feed.

The job is a price you can put next to yours. Same SKU, their shop, a time, a number a buyer will trust.

Teams ask for “scraping.” That is a method. The job is whether two products are the same object, and who gets the alert when their number moves.

What we decide on a first call

Which SKUs actually matter this month — named, not a category. Which sites you are allowed to read, and how often. What “the same product” means: barcode, pack size, a Kuwait-only bundle. Where the row lands: a sheet, a Slack line, the pricing tool. Who may change your price when theirs moves.

If you cannot hold two packs in your hand and say they match, a feed will compare the wrong things. That is a pause.

If the match rule is real and the stall is checking by hand, scraping can be a narrow watch: those URLs, that cadence, a row you can audit. We will not promise a legal opinion. We will not start from “the whole internet.”

This is not GCC property listing coverage. That job is volume of ads. A price watch is a few SKUs, often. It is not US car inventory or a Marketplace time-series. Those dumps describe a market. This job describes your shelf against theirs. It is also not competitor ad research. Ads are creatives. This is a number.

When we tell you to keep the spreadsheet

If you price twelve SKUs and check them on Sunday, keep the sheet. If the sites ban automated reads, or the SKU only exists as a WhatsApp broadcast, software will not invent a public page.

Kuwait retail often mixes KWD on the site with a different number on Instagram. Name which number is the one you will react to. Do not average them.

AI consultancy writes the match rule and the destination first. A daily pull comes after you can fail a row for comparing a 500ml to a litre.
