When a pet brand needs a storefront, not a chatbot
How we scope the ‘browse, subscribe, check out’ job for a supplement brand — trust pages, recurring carts, and when an assistant is the wrong first build.
The job is a purchase path. Someone lands on a product, reads why it exists, picks subscribe or a one-time jar, and pays. The site has to carry vet copy and reviews without turning into a diagnosis box.
Brands ask for “AI for pets.” That is how you get a chat on a page that still cannot take an order. Consultancy writes the commerce loop first.
What we check on a consultancy call
Whether you already have SKUs, photography, and a fulfilment story. Who writes the wellness sentence a lawyer will still own. Whether subscribe-and-save is the real offer, or a one-time cart is enough. Which wallets you already want on the checkout. Where referrals and reviews sit today.
If there is no product a person can add to a cart, a chatbot will only collect questions you cannot fulfil. That is a pause.
If the stall is the storefront — browse, product page, cart, trust — a front-end build can replace a brochure. The PetHeal case study is that loop: collection, product detail with subscribe-and-save, brand and benefits pages, a working cart. It is a shop, not an assistant. We will not treat one catalogue as a template for yours.
This is not the pet-care chat that has to remember. That job is a thread. This job is a cart.
What we will not recommend yet
We will not open with a public dosage assistant. If a vet still has to own the claim, the model stays off the product page. We will not invent a subscription engine if you ship once a quarter.
If the SKUs are real and the site still loses the buyer between story and pay, we scope collection → product page → cart. That is AI consultancy only if you are choosing between a shop and a chat. The build itself is front-end once the path is written down.
