Project Overview
A marketplace-style travel front end that connects Costa Rica’s places and operators with travelers building real trips.
OneTwoTrail positions itself as a digital travel companion for Costa Rica. On the consumer side, users browse experiences across provinces—from La Fortuna and Guanacaste beaches to San José museums and Caribbean parks—then open listings, follow curated trails, and move toward Pass-backed savings.
The live web app makes that loop visible: Discover home, popular searches, topic rails, search results, experience detail pages, multi-day trail stories, and a dedicated Pass surface—plus downloadable iOS/Android apps for maps and nearby use in-country.
- Consumer discovery UI: search, topics, featured experiences, maps, nearby
- Experience detail pages that feed trail boards and itinerary planning
- Curated multi-day trails that sell destinations as trip narratives
- Costa Rica Travel Pass for eligible member discounts
- Business portal for operators to expose listings to tourists
- Cross-platform presence: onetwotrail.com web app plus iOS/Android downloads
On the supply side, business.onetwotrail.com is the operator gateway—“the best platform to expose your business”—aimed at putting local experiences in front of the million-plus tourists who visit Costa Rica each year, with sign-in and sign-up into partner profile control.
Business Challenge / Problem Statement
Travelers needed a Costa Rica-native planner; operators needed tourist-facing distribution.
Tourists arriving in Costa Rica faced fragmented discovery—blogs, maps, and word of mouth—without a single place to browse experiences, open listings, and follow curated trails into a real trip.
Local operators struggled to reach inbound visitors with clear profiles and promotion, especially without building their own travel apps.
A membership Pass required a coherent consumer UX so discounts felt valuable without confusing free discovery.
The front end had to serve two audiences cleanly: travelers on onetwotrail.com / apps, and businesses on a dedicated partner portal—hence the split surfaces you see above.
- Fragmented Discovery — Beaches, parks, tours, and culture lived across too many sources for trip planning.
- Operator Reach — Local experiences needed tourist distribution with profile control and promotion.
- Dual Product Surfaces — Consumer app and business portal had to share brand trust with different jobs-to-be-done.
- Pass & Trails — Membership savings and curated trail storytelling needed clear, mobile-first UX.

Key Features & Product System
Two surfaces, one Costa Rica travel network.
Consumer discovery (onetwotrail.com)
Travelers land on Discover: Pass promotion, popular searches, topic rails, featured listings, search results, and experience detail pages. Categories span adventure, beaches, wildlife, gastronomy, wellness, and more—mapped across Costa Rica’s provinces.
Trails & trip storytelling
- Discover: Find experiences nationwide via search and topics.
- Open: Experience pages carry region, story, and Pass inclusion cues.
- Trail: Curated multi-day routes (e.g. Untamed South) sell the trip as a narrative.
Costa Rica Travel Pass
- Member savings: Eligible discounts on participating experiences and local activities.
- Account-gated: Login unlocks Pass, favorites, and activity history.
- Partner pull: Pass participation gives operators a reason to list and promote.
Maps, nearby & apps
Web works at onetwotrail.com; iOS/Android downloads emphasize maps, location-based suggestions, and on-the-go planning for travelers already in-country.

Results & Impact
OneTwoTrail gave travelers a Costa Rica-native way to discover places, open experiences, and follow curated trails—on the web and in downloadable apps.
Operators gained a business portal to reach tourists and manage exposure—without inventing their own discovery stack.
Pass membership tied traveler value to partner participation, strengthening the network between tourists and local businesses.
What our clients say
We needed travelers to find Costa Rica experiences in one place—and operators to show up where tourists already plan. OneTwoTrail’s consumer trails plus the business portal finally connected both sides.
