Project Overview

A logistics front end that connects restaurants, platform ops, riders, and external fleets in one Kuwait-native product.

Kuwait restaurants needed more than a dispatch phone number. They needed structured order intake, prepaid delivery billing, branch-aware operations, and visibility into who is picking up and when. Platform operators needed a live map and assignment board that works when auto-dispatch fails. Drivers needed a shift tool that opens native directions and unlocks customer details only after verified pickup. Fleet partners needed a portal that is not the admin console.

Manzil ships that system as four coordinated products on one Node / Prisma / PostGIS backend. Screenshots above are from those admin, merchant, driver, and company surfaces.

Business Challenge / Problem Statement

Restaurants and fleets in Kuwait were operating delivery without a shared system of record.

Orders lived in aggregator apps, calls, and chats with inconsistent addresses and no clear cash signal for riders.

Ops could not see free vs busy drivers on a live map, or escalate when no rider accepted an offer.

Merchants needed verification before releasing bags; drivers needed customer details only after pickup.

Delivery fees needed prepaid wallet deduction in KWD, with room for per-merchant pricing and periodic invoicing—and both platform drivers and external fleets needed first-class tools.

Admin command center

Live map with bike/car markers, restaurant pins, and customer destinations; order kanban with cash badges and assign/reassign; auto-dispatch offers with timeout and admin alerts; vendors, fleet companies, onboarding, invoices, reports, and multi-thread chat—plus EN/AR and dark mode.

Merchant portal

  • Orders: Area / Block / Street / Building intake with cash amount type and map pin.
  • Wallet: MyFatoorah top-up and fee deductions in KWD.
  • Team & verify: Owner / manager / employee roles and pickup code / barcode at the restaurant.

Driver app (web + native)

Fleet dashboard KPIs, payout windows (today / 7 / 15 / 30 days), live map of company drivers, driver CRUD, earnings panels, and support chat with platform admin—without sharing the admin console.

Results & Impact

Replaced ad-hoc courier coordination with a single realtime operations stack for merchants, admins, drivers, and fleet partners.

Merchants gained structured Kuwait addresses, cash signaling, wallet billing, and pickup verification instead of informal handoffs.

Ops gained live PostGIS tracking, offer-based dispatch, and a kanban that surfaces failed auto-assign for manual recovery.

Drivers gained a guided shift UI with external navigation, verification gates, and cash/POD completion. Fleet companies gained a dedicated portal instead of sharing admin credentials.

Technologies & Tools Used

One backend, four product surfaces

Admin, merchant, company, and driver web apps share a React / Vite front end with Socket.io, Google Maps, and EN/AR i18n. Drivers also ship in React Native with maps and push paths.

The API is Node.js, Express, Prisma, and PostgreSQL with PostGIS. Realtime rooms keep admin, vendor, driver, company, and order clients in sync. Wallet top-ups run through MyFatoorah webhooks with per-merchant fee and invoice rules.
